Dog Fence

Particularly for those living in neighborhoods that restrict construction of traditional dog fencing, the in ground unit is an attractive option. Electronic dog fences are also ideal for expansive yards that would be prohibitively expensive to fence traditionally - and don't forget the maintenance costs. A radio fence will also protect flowerbeds and fish ponds that you couldn't reasonably separate with a tangible fence.
Radio fences rely on buried cables or transmitters, which activate a radio receiver on your dog's collar as it approaches the boundaries. First, a warning tone sounds as the dog approaches the unit. The warning period is followed by a series of minute shocks - akin to static electricity - that encourage the dog to retreat. Your dog initially learns the boundaries of the electric dog fence by seeing marker flags, but won't need these visual indications after two weeks or so. This type of system is scalable to accommodate all your dogs, and requires little more maintenance than re-charging receiver batteries. Electric dog fence systems are long-lasting and easy to install - many newer models don't even require digging the cable into the ground, and even buried-cable fences are only laid 3 inches underground. One breakthrough style is even portable, so you can take your pet when you travel. Indoor dogs sometimes need corralled, too. Consider an indoor pet deterrent system, which can cover areas between 2 and 12 feet in diameter. This type works much like the above-described outdoor dog fencing, but with less weather resistance. Indoor dog fencing is expandable by adding extra transmitters, and can be used with multiple dogs. Buy an indoor type and forget about cleaning up ravaged garbage cans or hair-covered sofas ever again! Large manufacturers of dog fencing offer systems that are easily integrated, allowing you to combine a large outdoor dog fence with a smaller indoor area. The collar works with either fence unit, saving you hassle and expense. If you have an older fence model previously installed, expansion and replacement parts are typically available. An in-ground, electric dog fence is effective, humane, aesthetically pleasing, and keep your pets safe. The lethargy of indoor dogs and the barking of bored, tethered yard dogs can be immediately alleviated by the installation of a fence. Let your dog play, not run away. Choose the model that suits your circumstances and quit worrying that your best friend could get lost or hurt. Petsafe makes a wireless dog fence that is easily set up in 15 minutes. This dog fence is portable and throws out a signal up to 90ft in ever direction. Its not recommended for houses with metal roofs or siding and the property need to be flat with no sloping more than 2ft for every 10ft. |
